Free Keithley Web-Based Seminar Addresses High Brightness LED Test Techniques

Keithley Instruments, Inc., a world leader in advanced electrical test instruments and systems, will broadcast a free, web-based seminar titled “Meeting the Electrical Measurement Demands of High Power, High Brightness LEDs” on Thursday, May 26, 2011. This one-hour seminar will provide an overview of the electrical tools and techniques required to test today’s high power, high brightness light-emitting diodes (HBLEDs). To register for this event, visit http://www.keithley.com/events/semconfs/webseminars.

The seminar will detail why large-die LEDs and LED modules require test equipment with greater current capacity and greater output waveform flexibility than in the past, as well as the proper cabling required to support these capabilities. The seminar will also cover the thyristor effect (or snapback effect) sometimes associated with LEDs, including what it is, how to detect it, and how up-to-date automated test equipment can simplify the detection process.

This seminar is recommended for researchers, test engineers, and test engineering managers who are involved in the development and production of HBLEDs.

David Wyban, the web seminar presenter, is an applications engineer with Keithley Instruments, Cleveland, Ohio, which is part of the Tektronix test and measurement portfolio. Prior to joining Keithley in 2006, he received a B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from The Ohio State University.
