The College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering (CNSE) of the University at Albany announced today that it has been selected to host the International Nanotechnology Conference on Communication and Cooperation (INC7), a prestigious annual event aimed at fostering global collaboration in nanotechnology as a means of advancing research and spurring economic growth in the 21st century.
Industry leaders, senior researchers and policy makers from around the world will gather at CNSE’s Albany NanoTech Complex from May 16 through 19 for the conference, designed to further strengthen the dialogue between Europe, Japan and the United States in the emerging science of nanotechnology. INC7 was originally scheduled to be held in Japan, but was relocated to CNSE in the aftermath of an earthquake that hit eastern Japan on March 11.
Considered one of the key conferences to share developments in major nanotechnology research programs worldwide, INC7 will feature overview presentations of initiatives led by government, industry and academia in each region; technical sessions highlighting opportunities and challenges in nanoelectronics and related fields; and topical sessions showcasing the economic and societal implications of nanotechnology.
The keynote address will be delivered by Dr. Leo Esaki, who was awarded the 1973 Nobel Prize in Physics in recognition of his pioneering work on electron tunneling in solids.
