Nano4Life 2011 is the annual conference for the NanoKTN's Healthcare & Life Sciences theme, now in its third year, and examines the convergence on nanotechnology and healthcare.

Prof. Sir Michael Rawlins, Chairman of NICE has been confirmed as the keynote speaker for Nano4Life 2011.

There is a strong drive to apply nanoscale technologies in the healthcare sector as diseases have their origins at the molecular level. The sector breaks down into drug delivery and therapeutics, implants and medical devices, tissue engineering and diagnostics.

There are a number of areas where nanotechnologies are already being adopted in healthcare. For example, many diagnostic systems now rely on nano and micro systems, some drug formulations rely on nano-sized particles such as micelles and liposomes, and nanoparticles are being trialled in cancer therapy.
